Here's a list of awesome, fun and home-friendly fitness tips to keep you active while under lockdown.
As we head into the second week of #lockdownSA, we totally expect that you are bored out of your mind (remote workers excluded lol). Bet you've cleaned up your monthly WiFi limit by now as well.
Let's see... what have we done today already.👇 Nod your head if the shoe fits lol.
Everything sucks! And your beer belly is knocking! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh wait, I have no beer...
We get you, being trapped in the house is no fun and the guys from NHS recommend that everyone does at least 150 minutes of exercise per week. Question is, what can I do?. Well, we're glad you're here cause we prepared a list of awesome, fun home-friendly fitness tips to keep you busy.
STAY HOME, STAY SAFE, STAY HEALTHY, STAY ACTIVE!!
Ok, skipping is by far the cheapest, most effective, fat-burning, heart-pumping workout you can do not to mention it's loads of fun too. Imagine burning calories, while reliving some childhood memories of when you were younger and played outside cause that was what we did for fun in the good old days. Need we say more...just dig out that old skipping rope and get the family jumping that's If you have no downstairs neighbours who are going to complain.
If you fortunate enough to have some stairs in the house there are quite a few various exercises you can try out like:
Ok, we know not everyone is into Yoga but believe it or not, you don't have to be an expert. After all, it's all start with light stretching which helps improve your flexibility. For beginners, there are even a few that require no mat. With the national lockdown, there are thousands of free websites offering video tutorials ranging from beginner to advanced, as well as routines tailored to plus sizes and to those with mobility issues. All you goto do is find one that works for you. If you into Yoga, well you know what to do then.
Ok we know we said no tv but in fact, you could actually make good use of this time to do some exercise other than standing up from the couch and fetching snacks from the kitchen. It appears that video games aren't just for couch potatoes anymore.
In recent years, we've seen more and more exergames (games that actually require you to stand up and move). Games like EA Sports Active, Everybody Dance and Gold's Gym Dance Workout are interesting options for home exercisers but keep in mind not all games are made equal or at least give you a worthy form of a workout. Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus, for example, are great for getting reluctant exercisers off the couch. For a more intense but fun workout, you could also try out Zumba Fitness for Wii.
Keeping sane at this time is really important and what better way to do this than by meditating. Believe it or not, but meditation could save your relationship with your wife and the kids cause being cooped up in the house for 21 days could drive you nuts.
Apps like Calm, Headspace and Samsung Health are some of the popular platforms out there that will help you find some peace of mind by increasing your breathing and helping you to focus and reflect on life. That's if you could find a nice quiet place around the house, not to mention the fact that you're trying to be the teacher, breadwinner and at-home-entertainment all at the same time.
While we are not able to go to the club anytime soon we can bust a groove while at home. To get you in the mood we thought that this would be a great way to entertain yourself and the kids and at the same time learn a few hip-hop dance moves. Check out this 30-minute dance workout by DanceFitSugar.
So last but not least, we had to have something in here for the parents. After all your sanity is the most important and most vital if you wanna survive this. Below is a list of fun activities you can do with the kids which might be more of a workout for you than you think after you have to clean up after everything.
We hope you enjoy our fun lockdown exercise tips, stay safe, stay indoors and try to give your loved once the best possible time, help them cope and keep them happy. PS. If you have any tips, leave them in the comments, we’ll add them to our list and mention you.
